Home School
What is homeschooling?
Homeschooling is a flexible approach to education where children learn outside of a traditional school environment, either at home or in a dedicated learning centre, guided by a parent or qualified tutor. At Steamlings, we offer two homeschooling options:
-
Full-Day Homeschooling Programme – A monthly fee covering structured learning during standard school hours: 08:00–13:00 (Monday–Thursday) and 08:00–12:00 (Friday).
-
Subject-Specific Tuition – Extra lessons focused on selected subjects, charged per hour or as a package. These sessions are available 08:00–13:00 or 14:30–17:30, subject to availability.
This allows families to choose the level of support that best suits their child’s learning needs.
Why should you consider homeschooling at a centre?
Homeschooling offers the flexibility to work through content at a pace that suits your child, while still maintaining the structure of an ATP/POA (Annual Teaching Plan and Programme of Assessment).
Choosing a homeschooling centre adds the benefit of a small, supportive learning environment, where lessons are tailored to each learner’s pace, strengths, and needs. This personalised approach promotes deeper understanding, long-term retention, and accommodates different learning styles through a variety of teaching methods.
Homeschool learners at a centre are also required to complete assessments in line with the CAPS curriculum, ensuring academic standards are met while allowing for a more flexible and child-centred learning experience.
